New Year's Coaching Clinic

Basketball Queensland's (BQ) New Year's Coaching Clinic is back in 2022 with an incredible line up to tip-off the year. 

Join BA's Coach Director (High Performance) Peter Lonergan, BA CoE Assistant Coach Ash Arnott and Olympic Medal winning swimming coach Michael Bohl OAM the eve of the U18 State Championships as they delve into the art of coaching, off-ball movement, defensive disruption and shooting drills.

TOPICS & PRESENTERS

5:00pm - 6:00pm: Defensive Disruption -  Presented by Ash Arnott

Ash Arnott has been around basketball for more than 20 years, both playing and coaching. His previous roles include Coach of the Grand Canyon University Men's Basketball Team (2014-2017) and Basketball Victoria's High Performance Basketball Head Coach. Ash recently made the move to Basketball Australia's Centre of Excellence, taking on an Assistant Coach role with the CoE.

During this session,  Ash will cover ways to disrupt the offense through pressure defense and creative ways off the ball to make an impact on the offense.

6:00pm - 7:00pm: Concepts in Off-Ball Movement - Presented by Peter Lonergan

Peter Lonergan is Basketball Australia’s Coach Director of High-Performance. He has extensive coaching experience including Assistant Coach of the Australian Opals, Head Coach of the Australian Sapphires and has been heavily involved as a coach at an Australia Junior Championship level. 

Join Peter as he delves into player movement without the ball and how the cutting game can help build an affective offence.

7:00pm - 7:30pm: The Art of Coaching - Presented by  Michael Bohl

Michael Bohl OAM is a highly decorated and world renown swimming coach, guiding the likes of Emma McKeon and Stephanie Rice to Olympic Gold. Join Michael in this Q&A style session, as he deep dives into the art of coaching and helping athletes perform at their best. 

7:30pm - 8:15pm: COE Shooting Drills - Presented by Ash Arnott

Ash Arnott will discuss a range of shooting drills and the importance of including shooting at your practice.
